9 Jul 2019

第一天 DAY 1

It wasn't as far away as I imagined!

It took me just two and a half hour by train

from the Taipei Main Station to Hualien Station.

Since it's so convenient to hire driver's

with spacious vans in Hualien.

I really don't suggest you to drive.

Traffic and Parking could give you a headache

in hot spots in the mountains.

20 years in Taiwan, and I've never been to Taroko…

So I decided to first  feed my Canon M50

at the “QingShui Cliff” (清水斷崖).

I heard that the Tunnel of Nine turns in Taroko (JiuQuDong Caves, 九曲洞) has recently been reopened to the public after 6 years of reconstruction. Of course I want to be one of the first photographers to visit the new JiuQuDong!!! I was really surprised when I saw a clean bus stop with many options.

After feeding my camera, we had lunch at “Pajiq” (巴奇克),

a Taroko Aboriginal restaurant with a wonderful railway view.

This Menu-less restaurant is just standing by the railway.

At least 5 different trains passed by during our meal…

I will be sharing my vlog soon, and show you more!

Being a Taiwanese born in Brasil, all I knew about Taiwan, was the Taiwanse Japanese mixed music my parents played while at home.

There’s a coffee shop full of classic Taiwanese vinyl records, “Melody of Nastalgia”, located right on the old street of XinCheng Town.

Thanks to the rain, I decided to treat myself with a nice cup of coffee to go with this childhood memory...

QiXingTan Beach is one of the must-visit places in Hualian,

but only few people know about this beautiful QiLaiBi lighthouse.

As the rain gets heavier, I decided to check-in at the “Hey-Yo Hostel”.

Unlike other colorful B&Bs, “Hey-Yo” gave me a nice peaceful feeling…

(You all know that I am allergic to colorful things…)

All the stones displayed in the living area, tells me that there must be an interesting story behind it…

How lucky am I! The night market is just around the corner, literally!!!

BBQ Mountain Pork is the typical aboriginal snack to go with my Root beer~ Or your Taiwan Beer, or Rice wine… You decide~

But, don’t drink and drive~!

DAY 2

“Hey-Yo Hostel” is also close to the BeiBin Park,

a beautiful coastline park, with a perfect sunrise view.

Jogging in the early morning and enjoying the sunrise

in different cities in the world has always been my thing~

GongZheng dumpling (公正包子) is a truly yummy way

to finish your morning exercise~

Railway Culture lovers will be thrilled with all the related parks in Hualien!

The mini railway model even has it’s own train Schedule!!!

If you are looking for a place for your instagram photo collection, you can spend a whole day here…

JiAn QingXiu (吉安慶修院) Temple used to be Shingon Yoshino Dojo in the Japanese colonial period, where KongHai Great Master and Acalanatha were enshrined. It is the best preserved Japanese-style temple in eastern Taiwan. The main temple building is wooden structure with a Japanese-style four-pillar rooftop. The temple is permeated with the spirit of Zen and is an important historical site and tourist attraction.

If you tried the Popular Tea Houses in Taipei, you will definitely like the “Wang’s Tea House” in Hualien Downtown, because of the quieter environment and the larger amount of food.

Besides, it’s close to lot’s of nice photography spots, too~

Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/3ejE4ihctdJ2duw77

I’ve always loved exploring second hand stores,

so having this “Reading Time” second hand bookstore cafe on my list seems to be obvious, right?

I even found the Japanese Band LUNA SEA’s SHINE album,

which I’ve been searching for quite a while~! Oh! Good old times…

Remember the secret behind all the stones in the Hostel?

I finally found that Hey-Yo Hostel is part of one of the largest corporations in Hualien, KUANG LONG GROUP, which has been a leading corporation in the stone related business for over 3 decades~!

And the Deep-Sea Water included in your room is also one part of their business now…

Well, I guess it’s time I go to check our the “KUANG LONG MUSEUM”!

Ok, ok, I admit! I was wrong~

I really didn’t think that KUANG LONG MUSEUM would be this big !!!

I came in too late and didn’t have enough time to finish even half of it!

What?

There are several natural experience attractions and DIY sessions?

I guess this makes me a perfect excuse to bring kids here soon…

Time to go catch my train back to Taipei… (sad…)
